0 Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A SCHOOL SPEED ZONE ON MEDICINE
LAKE ROAD (CSAH 70), BETWEEN ENSIGN AVENUE NORTH AND 100 FEET
EAST OF BOONE AVENUE IN THE CITIES OF GOLDEN VALLEY AND NEW HOPE
WHEREAS, the City of New Hope has prepare a report titled "Traffic Safety
Improvements in the Vicinity of Elementary Schools"; and
WHEREAS, this report has been accepted by the New Hope City Council and the
Council has directed its staff to implement the improvements recommended; and
WHEREAS, the report recommends establishing a 20 mile per hour school speed
zone on Medicine Lake Road between Ensign Avenue and 100 feet east of Boone Avenue
North; and
WHEREAS, this school speed zone would be adjacent to Sunny Hollow Elementary
School located on the north side of Medicine Lake Road in New Hope; and
WHEREAS, Medicine Lake Road is a county state aid highway under the jurisdiction
of Hennepin County with a 35 mile per hour speed limit; and
• WHEREAS, the City of New Hope has requested that the City of Golden Valley
concur and support its efforts to establish a 20 mile per hour speed zone on Medicine Lake
Road in the vicinity of Sunny Hollow Elementary School.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
1. That the City of Golden Vally concurs and supports New Hope's efforts to
establish a 20 mile per hour speed zone on Medicine Lake Road between
Ensign Avenue North and 100 feet east of Boone Avenue in the Cities of
Golden Valley and New Hope.
2. That the City Council hereby directs staff to transmit a certified copy of the
resolution to the New Hope City Clerk.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member LeSuer
and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Anderson,
Bakken, Johnson, LeSuer, and Micks; and the following voted against the same: none,
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor
and her signature attested by the City Clerk.
