03-31 - 08-04 - Upgrade Radio Communication System Resolution 03-31 August 4, 2003 Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION STATING THE CITY'S INTENT TO PROCEED WITH PLANNING FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN UPGRADED RADIO COMMUNICATION SYSTEM IN COOPERATION WITH THE METROPOLITAN RADIO BOARD WHEREAS, the radio communication system in use by the City of Golden Valley is in n eed o f r eplacement t o provide a mergency s ervices t o p olice and fire agencies i n i is jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Radio Board, as a result of legislative changes, has the authority and resources to provide financial assistance to local units of government in the Metropolitan Area that plan to participate in the regional 800 MHz digital trunked communications system; and WHEREAS, federal funds have been appropriated and made available through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety to supplement local and state funds for the purpose of participating in the regional system, for which metropolitan area local governments are eligible; and WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley has determined that its participation in the regional system would improve interoperability among its various agencies and partners, as well as with other jurisdictions for purposes of mutual aid and emergency medical services, thus improving public safety, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Golden Valley intends to proceed with planning for development of an upgraded radio communication system with the intention of participating in the regional system and that the Metropolitan Radio Board be notified of Golden Valley's intention and request any state or federal financial incentives that may be offered to local jurisdictions. Taylor Jerk Resolution 03-31 - Continued August 4, 2003 The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Grayson and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Grayson, Johnson, LeSuer, Loomis and Tremere; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the City Clerk.
