03-36 - 09-16 - Support 3 Rivers Park District Trails Plan Resolution 03-36 September 16, 2003 Member Grayson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THREE RIVERS PARK DISTRICT FIRST TIER TRAILS MASTER PLAN WHEREAS, Three Rivers Park District has studied the potential for trails, greenways and parks in the First Tier Communities of Suburban Hennepin County; and WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Park District has authorized its consultant, Stanley Consultants Inc. to make trail alignment recommendations; and WHEREAS, the alignment through Golden Valley is as follows: The trail system would begin at the TH 100 pedestrian bridge (located at Dawnview Terrace), and would follow south along Unity Avenue (on the new trail constructed as part of the 2002 Unity Avenue project), completing a link to the existing trail along the southwest side of Minnaqua Pond. From the south end of Minnaqua Pond, the trail would follow east along Westbend Road, then south along Regent Avenue, then east along CSAH 66 (Duluth Street/Golden Valley Road) to Wirth Parkway. WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Park District desires that communities initiate and support the implementation of said plan; and WHEREAS, the Three Rivers Park District will require a cooperative agreement with each city where a trail, greenway or park would be implemented. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Golden Valley supports the alignment and efforts of the Three Rivers Park District to implement a first tier system of trails in Golden Valley: Linda R. Loomis, Mayor ATTEST: Donald G. Taylor Jerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Johnson and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Grayson, Johnson, Loomis and Tremere; and the following was absent: LeSuer; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the City Clerk.
