Member Johnson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION REQUESTING COOPERATION FROM HENNEPIN COUNTY IN
RESEARCHING FEASIBILITY OF COUNTY OPERATED DISPATCH SERVICES
FOR THE CITY OF GOLDEN VALLEY
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department currently provides public
safety dispatching services to a number of communities throughout Hennepin County, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley, Minnesota and other communities in
Hennepin C ounty a re i n t he p rocess of conducting a p reliminary feasibility study f or t he
consolidation of public safety dispatching services, and,
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley is interested in considering the possibility of
entering into an agreement with Hennepin County whereby public safety dispatch services
would be provided to the City of Golden Valley by the Hennepin County Sheriff's
Department, and,
WHEREAS, the full evaluation of this option by the City of Golden Valley requires
certain cost information, statistics, and an on-going dialogue about which services could be
provided to the City of Golden Valley by Hennepin County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Golden
Valley, Minnesota, that we support the efforts of our staff to evaluate options available to us
to provide public safety dispatch services to our residents and businesses; and further
request that the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners, Sheriff's Department, and
other Hennepin County staff cooperate fully with our staff in our efforts to fully evaluate the
possibility of entering into an agreement with the Hennepin County for public safety
dispatching services.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Grayson
and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Grayson,
Johnson, Loomis and Tremere; and the following was absent: LeSuer; and the following
voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and
adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the City Clerk.
