07-22 - 04-04 - Submit Grant for 2007 Non-Motorized Transportation - Xenia-Park Place Corridor Resolution 07-22 April 4, 2007 Member Pentel introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT PROPOSAL FOR THE 2007 NON-MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION PILOT PROGRAM XENIA-PARK PLACE CORRIDOR WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley, Minnesota, has an interest in improving bike, pedestrian and transit options for its citizens; and, WHEREAS, the City of St. Louis Park has proposed a joint study of non-motorized connections from Glenwood Avenue south through Golden Valley and St. Louis Park to the Cedar Lake Trail south of the Burlington Northern railroad in St. Louis Park; and, WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley supports the improvement of non-motorized connections for its residents and businesses, including connections to and through the cities of St. Louis Park and Minneapolis; and, WHEREAS, the Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program offers planning grants to promote consideration of the connections desired by Golden Valley and St. Louis Park; and WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley supports the City of St. Louis Park in its application for a grant to fund the cooperative study of connections to the Cedar Lake Trail and Theodore Wirth Park. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Golden Valley that it supports the grant application to be prepared and submitted by the City of St. Louis Park for the 2007 Non-Motorized Transportation Pilot Program Grant focused on the Xenia-Park Place Corridor connections to the Cedar Lake Trail and Theodore Wirth Park. • I //I)/ 1 Linda R. Virnig, City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Freiberg and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Freiberg, Loomis, Pentel, Scanlon and Shaffer; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and her signature attested by the City Clerk.
