14-008 - 01-21 - authorizing metropolitan council transpertation alternatives program submittal for bicycle/pedestrian improvements - douglas drive Resolution 14-8 January 21, 2014 Member Schmidgall introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A METROPOLITAN COUNCIL TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVES PROGRAM SUBMITTAL FOR BICYCLE/PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS WITHIN THE DOUGLAS DRIVE (CSAH 102) RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council acts as the Regional solicitor for this portion of Federal MAP-21 funding for local projects; and WHEREAS, Municipal Consent was received for the Douglas Drive Reconstruction Project by the Golden Valley City Council on November 15, 2011; and WHEREAS, the approved Preliminary Design for pouglas Drive includes numerous alternative transportation methods for Bicyclists and Pedestrians; and WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley is committed to providing the required local share of the funding in accordance with Hennepin County policy; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Golden Valley to request funding through the Transportation Alternatives Program from the Metropolitan Council for the proposed bicycle and pedestrian improvements that are included in the 2016 Douglas Drive Reconstruction Project, to commit to providing the local share of funding for the project if awarded a grant, and to direct the Director of Public Works to submit all necessary documentation to support the grant application. Virnig, City Clerk The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Snope and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Clausen, Fonnest, Harris, Schmidgall and Snope; and the following voted against the same: none, whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and his signature attested by the City Clerk.
