RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR NOTICE OF WITHDRAWAL BY THE CITY OF
GOLDEN VALLEY FROM THE FIVE CITIES SENIOR TRANSPORTATION PROJECT
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley is a signatory to that certain "Joint Powers
Agreement for the Establishment of the Five Cities Senior Transportation Project" ( the
"JPA"), along with the cities of Brooklyn Center, Crystal, New Hope and Robbinsdale; and
WHEREAS, the JPA was implemented in 1985 to address the lack of transportation
opportunities for seniors, and was thus intended to assist seniors in the five cities with
transportation needs to complement existing transportation programs by other area
agencies (the "Five Cities Project"); and
WHEREAS, over the years new and existing public senior transportation programs
now offer a variety of senior transportation services, resulting in the Five Cities Project
duplicating existing services; and

necessary to provide effective transportation services for seniors; and
WHEREAS, the JPA permits the withdrawal of a member city, upon notice to the
other member cities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Golden
Valley that this resolution provides notice of the City's intent to withdraw from the Five
Cities Project effective as of July 30, 2014.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager is directed to transmit this
