16-37 - 06-07 - Support Mixed Use Resolution 16-37 June 7, 2016
Member Snope introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING SUBMITTAL OF APPLICATION FOR TECHNICAL
ASSISTANCE TO SUPPORT MIXED INCOME HOUSING POLICY DEVELOPMENT
WHEREAS, the Family Housing Fund and the Urban Land Institute of
Minnesota/Regional Council of Mayors (ULI MN/RCM) have released a call for technical
assistance proposals as part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Regional Mixed Income Housing
Feasibility Education and Action Project; and
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley is eligible to apply for complimentary technical
assistance; and
WHEREAS, City staff has identified the need to conduct a community-wide
assessment of affordable housing supply, demand, policies, incentives, and regulations as
part of the update to the City's Comprehensive Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Golden Valley is interested in exploring policies and incentives
that encourage mixed income housing; and
WHEREAS, technical assistance from an experienced consultant to assist staff in the
research and development of policies that encourage mixed income housing would be
helpful in helping the City meet is short-term and long-term housing goals.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Golden Valley that the
Council is supportive of staff's submittal of an application for technical assistance to support
mixed income housing policy development in preparation for the City's update to the Housing
Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Clausen
and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Clausen, Snope
and Fonnest and the following voted against the same: none
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor
and his signature attested by the City Clerk.
