Member Snope introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION BY PURCHASE OF CERTAIN REAL
PROPERTY FOR FLOOD DAMAGE REDUCTION ASSISTANCE GRANT PROJECT
WHEREAS, the property at 9450 Olympia Street experiences repetitive flood
damage from excess storm water runoff from adjacent neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, it is proposed to acquire repetitive flood damaged properties in Golden
Valley in cooperation with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources-Waters
(MNDNR); and
WHEREAS, the City Council has authorized an agreement with MNDNR for the
proposed project including the acquisition of the property necessary for the project; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary, desirable, and in the public interest to acquire real
property set out in Exhibit A attached hereto; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Golden
Valley that:
1. It is necessary, desirable and in the public interest to acquire the real property
described in Exhibit A, attached hereto, to eliminate repetitive flood damage and
for permanent public open space; and
2. City staff and City Attorney, or such other persons as necessary, are hereby
authorized and directed to take all necessary steps and execute all necessary
documents to acquire such real property and temporary construction easements;
and
3. The acquisition of such real property and easements is necessary and desirable
and constitutes a proper and necessary purpose.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Member Fonnest
and upon a vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Harris, Fonnest,
Snope, Schmidgall and Clausen and the following voted against the same: none
whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted, signed by the Mayor and
his signature attested by the City Clerk.
