Resolution 94-5
May 10, 1994
Commissioner Russell introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION BY PURCHASE OR CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN
REAL PROPERTY FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF THE GOLDEN HILLS WEST AREA
WHEREAS, the Golden Hills Redevelopment Plan as adopted by the Housing and
Redevelopment Authority (HRA) in and for the City of Golden Valley in 1984
provides for the acquisition of property for redevelopment, and
WHEREAS, the Midland Welding property does not have street access and needs
access through an easement on property adjacent to Wayzata Boulevard which is
proposed to be redeveloped as a hotel; and
WHEREAS, the HRA has determined that acquisition of the property is pre-
ferable to providing an alternative easement to access the property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the HRA in and for the City of Golden
Valley that:
1. It is necessary, desirable and in the public interest to acquire
the two parcels of real property commonly referred to as the
Midland Welding, 6010 Wayzata Boulevard, which is legally
described in "Exhibit A"; and
2. The HRA staff and attorney, or such other persons as necessary are
hereby authorized and directed to take all necessary steps and
execute all necessary documents to acquire such real property; and
3. In the event that the real property described on "Exhibit A" can-
not be expeditiously acquired by negotiated purchase, the HRA
staff and attorney are authorized and directed to commence condem-
nation proceedings to acquire such property; and
4. The acquisition of such real property is necessary and desirable
