Discussion on Proposed 2024-2025 HRA Budget and Levy Prepared By Sue Virnig, Finance Director Summary At the August 8 Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) Work Session the HRA commissioners will be reviewing the 2024-2025 HRA budget. Staff will present the proposed budget and levy. The proposed budget and levy will be presented again at the September 19 HRA meeting. Approval of the 2024-2025 proposed levy and budget will be sent to Hennepin County and included on the 2024 Proposed Property Tax Statement. The final public meeting will be December 5. Financial or Budget Considerations The Proposed Housing and Redevelopment Levy will under Other Taxing Jurisdictions on the Proposed Property Tax Statement. The levy will fund the Housing Initiatives set out by the HRA. The amount of the proposed levy is $284,880. Legal Considerations The statutes and process have been set by the MN Department of Revenue. All legal requirements to levy will be followed. Equity Considerations Housing: The goal of the City’s Mixed Income Housing Policy is to preserve and promote economically diverse housing options in our community by creating high quality housing in Golden Valley for a household with a variety of income levels, ages, and sizes. Economic Development: The City of Golden Valley defines economic prosperity for all as the intentional provision of economic opportunities and resources for all communities by finding solutions to support economic growth and inclusion of historically marginalized communities and those facing economic hardship. As an employer and municipality, the City of Golden Valley is determined to identify and disrupt barriers to economic inclusion.
