GVHSF MINUTES 05-12-2008 Golden Valley Human Services Foundation (GVHSF) Meeting Minutes May 12, 2008 Present: Daniel Blumb, Hilmer Erickson, Bob Hoyt, Chris Monroe, Diane Nimmer, Connie Sandler, Steve Schumacher and Toots Vodovoz. Also present Jeanne Fackler, Staff Liaison. Not Present: Shannon Breimhurst, Elissa Heilicher, Teri Holgate, and Gloria Johnson. Call to Order: Chairperson Schumacher called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. February 11 minutes: Erickson moved and Vodovoz seconded the motion to approve the minutes of February 11. The motion passed unanimously. Run the Valley: The net for Run the Valley is $14,348. Suggestions for next year's event include: Order medals for first place only, but increase the number of age categories. Plan for 550 people Contact Pilgrim Cleaners for safety pin donation Increase the number of volunteers on the course New Business: Sponsorship packet/brochure: Breimhurstand Nimmer will work on a sponsorship brochure for the 2009 events to present to area businesses. Golf Tournament: The 2007 golf brochure was updated. A line for e-mail address will be added. It was suggested to increase the foursome fee to $300 before September 2 or $350 after September 2. A new category to encourage multiple foursomes from a company or friends will be $500 for 2 foursomes before September 2 or $550 after September 2..Fackler will check with Kris Tovson to make sure the new fees are in line with other tournament groups. Sponsor contribution levels: Members changed corporate sponsorship to include the company name will appear at all holes and all advertising if received by deadline date. Taste of Golden Valley: Monroe, Sandler and Vodovoz will chair the event. "Save the date" cards were printed. Members will ask if they can appear at other commission meetings to encourage attendance at the event. Elections: Monroe nominated Sandler for the position of Vice Chair. Sandler accepted the nomination. Hoyt moved and Nimmer seconded the nominations of Dan Blumb for Chair and Connie Sandler for Vice-Chair. Passed unanimously. Other Business: Schumacher reported that the Rotary Club of Golden Valley donated $1,100 to the Foundation with $100 designated to Run the Valley and $1,000 to the Golf Classic. Schumacher accepted the check at the Rotary's May 6 meeting. Fackler reported that the Golden Valley Federated Women's Club donated $300 to the Foundation. Thank you's have been sent. Fackler reported that a request has come from Go Health Chiropractic to offer chair massages after the golf tournament. Members felt this would be a nice service. Fackler will contact and meet with staff of Go Health. By-laws review: Discussion centered on attendance. Hoyt moved and Monroe seconded that the wording in Article II, Section 3 be changed to "Attendance is required at all meetings. Unexcused absence from three meetings per calendar year could result in removal from the Foundation." Second reading and vote will be at the June meeting.
