GOLDEN VALLEY HUMAN SERVICES FOUNDATION
Minutes of the October 11, 1999 Meeting
Golden Valley City Council Room
Members Present: Hilmer Erickson, Karen Neis, Terri DeVeau, Elissa Heilicher, Mary Anne Moore,
Julie Fenyk, Linda Hawkinson, Gloria Johnson and Sue Virnig, Staff Liaison.
Members Absent: Carolyn Fiterman and Helen Bassett
Call to Order: Elissa called the meeting to order at 7 :00 p.m.
Introduction of New Members: Linda Hawkinson and Juliet Fenyk introduced themselves to the
board. Welcome to the new members.
Approval of September Minutes: The motion to approve the minutes . was seconded, and passed by
all those present.
Vote for Board Chair: Teri DeVeau was nominated for the chair position vacated by Jeff Hanson.
All approved of her appointment.
Golf Tournament:
Results - Our net earnings from the tournament were $ 6,956.05, which is $500 less than last year.
We had fewer golfers this year, and that impacted the amount of funds that were raised. Overall the
tournament went well. New hole sponsors were very pleased with the event. Next year we may
consider holding the event on a weekday instead of a Saturday, to draw more participation.
Bude:et Allocation- Review of Proposals:
The GVHSF received 7 proposals for requested funding. We decided to fund 6 of the 7 proposals at
the following levels:
Home Free Shelter: $ 20,501
Prism: $ 5,000
NW Dinner / Door: $ 3,000
YMCA Detached Worker:
West Suburban Mediation:
Sr. Community Services CHORE:
Sr. Community Services Outreach:
$ 21,000

TOTAL:
$ 52,501 in grants
The motion for the funding as outlined above was seconded and all approved.
