Minutes of the January 10, 2000 Meeting
Golden Valley Council Conference Room
Members Present: Hilmer Erickson, Mary Anne Moore, Elissa Heilicher,
Carolyn Fiterman, Terri DeVeau, Julie Fenyk, Helen Bassett, and Sue Virnig,
Staff liaison.
Members Absent: Karen Neis, Linda Hawkinson, and Gloria Johnson.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm by ChairTerri
DeVeau. '
Approval of Minutes: Elissa Heilicher moved and Mary Ann Moore seconded
approval of the November minutes. The motion passed unanimously. (There was
no December meeting.)
Run the Valley: April 15, 2000 is the date. There will be a design contest for the
run t-shirt. Everyone on the committee will make an effort in getting out the news
on the run by dropping off the run brochures. Elissa will be contacting Lupient,
Viking Food Service, and Norwest Bank. Elissa contacted Einstein and got a
donation of 12 dozen bagels. Carolyn will contact Liberty Carton. Helen will
contact Doolittles. Mary Ann will contact Rainbow for donuts. Hilmer will contact
Super America about donuts. The rest of the committee willlobk for additional
sponsors.
Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 8:00pm.

Course
The certified course runs a relatively flat loop
through residential Golden Valley. Start and
finish will be near the
Brookview Park parking lot
(one block south of Hwy 55
and Winnetka Ave at Brookview
Parkway).
Awards
Commemorative medallions
will be mailed to the first,
second, and third place male and
female runners in each age category (under
19. 20~29, 30~39, 40~49. 50 and over) for
both the 5K and 1 OK Runs. Walkers will not
receive awards.

Race Packets
Pre~registered runners can pick up race packets
and T~shirts during office hours at Golden Valley
City Hall (7800 Golden Valley Rd, 593~80 13) on
April 14. All others can be picked up on race day
beginning at 7:30 am.
Race Results
Runners' times will be posted
at the end of the race, mailed
to runners, printed in MN
Running & Track magazine,
and posted on the Web at
www.raceberryjam.com.

Mission
Identify the community's needs for human ser~
vices.
Develop guidelines to evaluate funding requests
and allocate to human service organizations that
meet the identified needs of the community.
Determine funds needed and strategies to provide
funding through charitable gambling proceeds,
fundraisers, or community events.
Guidelines for Funding
o The service provided is for Golden Valley
residents at a time of crisis or need.
o The services must not be duplicated by a level
of government.
o The service must include cooperation or
collaboration between organizations.
o The organization should use the funds granted
by the Foundation to serve Golden Valley
citizens.
o Funding shall be granted to human service
organizations and not to an individual or
individuals.
o Funding will not be granted to any organization
licensed in the City for lawful. gambling opera~
tions.
The Golden Valley Human Services Foundation
allocates money to the following organizations:
Home Free Shelter
(a domestic abuse program)
YMCA Detached Work Program
(a program to help delinquent teenagers)
Suburban Northwest Dinner At Your Door
(delivers lunch to people that need care)
PRISM (a local food shelf)
