7-17-195617 9 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR 1s4EETING PARK BOARD Village of Golden Valley July - 1956 On July 17, 1956 the Golden Valley Park Board met in regular session in the village hall. Present were Stockman, Gustafson and Ostroot. h{inutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. It was noted that the village council invited the members of the Park Poard to attend. the regular council meeting on July Second and present our needs. The full board attended and a very responsive council agreed to: 1. Assist in the solution of our immediate problem of getting necessary work done by hiring a man on the regular crew to do this work and expedite any grading and extra work by supplementing his time with the other men on the crew. 2.Help in any way they can with long-range matters of planning, land -acquisition and park development. They referred to the offer of Mr. Doell of the Minneapolis Park Board to be of service to us in this capacity. An appointment has been made to secure this cooperation and get the surveys and recommendations as soon as possible. SRA requested use of Lions Park for this years annual district archery and horseshoe tournaments to be held in August. P,:SC permission be granted. SRA so advised. LIONS PARK - Swing set has been installed and is getting heavy use. Back -stop has been installed, infield sodded and completed except for baselines and the outfield and the balance of these grgdin; contract has been completed. Our engineering department and the contractor, Xilcox, deserve credit for a fine job. YVIa `9 PAPOOSE PARK - Grading has been completed, the infield sodded and the additional sod contracted will he laid this week. �2 SCHEID PARK - The swing set has been delivered and will be installed when grading is completed in the next week or two.�� � Golden Valley Baptist Church sent a representative to the village 1 hall to request fine grading, top soil to be hauled in and seeding of their property where fill fnr Lions Park was removed, in terms of our agreement. Our agreement provided only that we surface the propertIr with dirt equal to top soil removed which has been I done and that we resurvey the lot. The latter has been orderd. Golden Valley kions Club sent representative to request use of Lions Park as Babe Ruth League Home Park for 1957.
