11-13-19571 1 �1 Minutes of the Regular Meeting PARK BOARD OF Village of Golden Valley November 13, 1957 7:30 P.M. The Park Board of the Village of Golden Valley met at its regular monthly meeting at the temporary City Hall, Wednesday, November 13, 1957, at 7:30 P.M. Present were Ostroot, Stockman, Gustafson and Consultant Bob Corwine. Mr. John Sullivan, representing the Little League, was present. He discussed the need of more baseball fields to accommodate their expanding program. The Park Board agreed to investigate and cooperate with the Little League. Mr. John Ferguson, representing the S.R.A., was present. Their immediate concern is with the skating facilities for the entire Village this winter. He asks that we provide suitable facilities for hockey. The Park Board advised they would make a further study, and pledged full cooperation to his group on this phase of recreation. Mr. Ferguson inquired as to the possibility of Investigating the use of Twin -Lakes for both swimming and skating. The Park Board will review this possibility with the Minneapolis Park Board. Also meeting with the Park Board were two members from the League of Women Voters. They were present merely as observers. During an open conversation the discussion of girls' baseball teams suggested the possibility of furthering the recreational program in Golden Valley. The Park Board discussed skating rinks for the entire Village. Corwine and Dezin had surveyed all areas of the Village, and Corwine presented a suggested plan to the Park Board. This plan was accepted with the understanding that in some cases it would be Impossible to furnish rinks for the entire Village.
