6-28-1962L' 11 Minutes of the Regular Meeting PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION Village of Golden Valley June 28, 1962 7:00 P.M. The Park and Recreation Commission of the Village of Golden Valley met at its regular monthly meeting at the Village Hall, Thursday, Jame 28, 1962, at 7:00 p.m. Board members present: Dr. Ray G. Petersen, Chairman, John H. Sullivan, John W. Byrnes, Ray B. Stockman, Mrs. Laura Scheffler and Max Green. Board members absent: Graydon Ewald Also present were: John L. Brenna, Director, and members of the Summer Recreation Staff: Tom Benepe, Baseball Supervisor, Mabel Pearson, Playground Supervisor, Sheldon Anderson, Swimming Supervisor, Clair Godfrey, DW Camp Supervisor and Mary Leuer, Arts and Crafts. Supervisor. The minutes of the May 31, 1962 meeting were approved as written. REQUEST: RICHARD C. DAVIDS'-N Discussion persued relative to Mr. Davidson's property which is located at the corner of Winsdale and Wisconsin Avenue North, adjacent to Wesley Park. Mr. Davidson's proposal of relinquishing 63 feet on his from lot and 22 feet on his back lot for a price of $570.00 which is a composit of his total back taxes of his entire lot. It was denied. The board however, made an offer on a pro -rated basis of $300.00. Motion by Sullivan, seconded by Byrnesq All board members were in favor thereof. At this time Mr. Brenna introduced the summer supervisory staff to the board. A short recap of the summer activities was explained after which the board recessed for a visit with the supervisors. At this time Mr. Brenna discussed the summer program. He explained each phase of the summer activities and the registrations for each. PARK DEVELOPMENT: Mr. Brenna explained the progress to date on each of the new park areas. He mentioned Wesley, Woodlawn, Natchez, and Yosemite Parks, will be top dressed and seeded within the month, weather permitting. At this time Mr. Stockman made mention of our possible look to a bond issue for park development. It was the consensus of the board members present the foundation for the venture start to be laid. Dr. Ray Petersen made mention the recent meeting between himself and Mr. Brenna and a representative of the Golden Valley Lions Club, of the possibility of donated labor and moneys for a park or parks improvement. To date the Lions Club has made no de c is i on. SWIM POOL COMMITTEE,: Minutes of the June 6, pool committee meeting were distributed and a brief explanation persued. Also, a brief resume of the June 20, meeting with Public Pools, Inc. was discussed. It was the consensus of all members present that the pool committee was doing a commendable job.
