2-20-1968SPECIAL MEETING OF THE PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION February 20,1968 A special meeting of the Golden Valley Park & Recreation Commission was held at the Golden Valley Civic Center, 7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota, on Tuesday, February 21,1968, at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Anderson presided and the following members were present: Roelke, Byrnes, Dr. Petersen, Brown, Kahn, Fischer, Hammer, Oukrop. Members absent: Reed, Tart, Forster, Neuman, Sullivan. Also present: Director John Brenna, George Kelby, Mr. A L Brant, Harold Lynch, Robert Keller. USE OF SNOWMOBILES (NORTH TYROL PARK) After a lengthy two hour discussion concerning snowmobiling in North Tyrol Park, it was MOVED by Gene Roelke, seconded by Larry Fischer, unanimously carried, that the area in question (North Tyrol Park) remain closed to the operation of snowmobiles. The main reasons for the preceding action being: 1. The noise factor for those living next to the park area. 2. The smallness of the park. 3. To preserve the unique natural wildlife nature of the park area. As a result of this meeting, a special committee will be set up within the Park & Recreation Commission to study the future needs of snowmobilin4.
