July 25, 1968
A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation Commission
was held Thursday, July 25, 1968 at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Safety
Building, 7800 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Vice -
Chairman Kahn presided and the following members were present:
Neuman, Reed, Tart, Hammer, Brown, Petersen, Roelke, Members absent:
Herje, Sullivan, Byrnes, Fischer, Oukrop, Forster. Also present:
Park and Recreation Director John Brenna, Secretary Lois Schaaf.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
The minutes of the June 27, 1968 meeting were approved as written.
BROOKVIEW SUB -COMMITTEE REPORT
In view of the absence of members and in view of the fact that
more policy recommendations would be forthcoming from the sub-
committee, it was unanimously agreed to with -hold action on the
report until it was complete. Vice -Chairman Kahn then called for
a special meeting, to be held on Thursday, August 15th at 7:00 p.m.
for the purpose of review and ratification of the Brookview Sub -
Committee's report on policy.
SCHEID PARK BRIDGE
Mr. Brenna stated that the Village Council had signed the Scheid
Park Bridge Agreement. Mr. Brenna also mentioned that he had
contacted Mr. Art Lee, Hennepin County Highway Administrator re-
garding a construction time table. Mr. Lee stated that he would
try for construction this fall, and if not, for sure, prior to
next summer's playground season.
NEW PARK SITE
Our recommendation to the Village Council concerning that portion of
land between Duluth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to be designated
as park property, was tabled by the Council, subject to further in-
vestigation by the Planning Department.
GINGOLD & PINK (Architects)
Mr. Brenna stated that he had met with the firm and a time table
would be forthcoming concerning their analysis and construction
dates.
BROOKVIEW PARK
Mr. Brenna Stated that he was in the process of computing quantities
for the dredging of the ponds in Brookview Park and would submit to
the Village Council an Ad for Bids.

1969 BUDGET
A Budget Sub -Committee was picked to review the 1969 Budger; Chair-
man - Burt Brown, committee members - Tom Tart and Frank Neuman.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
