8-29-1968REGULAR MEETING OF THE GOLDEN VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION August 29, 1969 A regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was held on Thursday August 29, 1968 at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Building, 700 Golden Valley Road, Golden Valley, Minnesota. Vice - Chairman Kahn presided, and the following members were present: Sullivan, Oukrop, Tart, Hammer, Brown, Petersen, Neuman, Fischer, Reed, Forster. Members absent: Anderson, Roelke, Byrnes, Herje, Also present were John Brenna, Park and Recreation Director; Lloyd Roepke, Park Foreman; Lois Schaaf, Secretary. APPROVAL OF MINUTES MWEU by Neuman, seconded by Fischer that the minutes of the July 25, 1968 regular meeting be approved as written. Carried. MOVED by Tart, seconded by Fischer that the minutes of the August 15, 1968 special meeting be approved as written. Carried. BROOKVIEW SUB -COMMITTEE REPORT The following changes were explained by Ur Petersen, chairman of the Brookview Sub -Committee: Patron Card Fees Adults (21 and over) . .. . .20.00 per year. Juniors(under 21)and Senior �Citizens(65 and over).�10.00 per year. PATRON CARD Privileges To stay the same as stated in the 7-22-68 minutes, i.e. - Price break of x1.00 on 18 holes, 50C on 9 holes. - Preferential reservation times. - Season (discount) locker privileges. - Maintenance of recognized USGA Handicaps. MOVED by Ur Petersen, seconded by Forster to adopt the abovePatron Card Fees and Priviliges. Carried with one member voting no. Locker Fees To stay the same as stated in the 7-22-68 minutes, i.e. Daily . . . . . . .50 Season - Patron Card Holder . . 7.50 Season - Non -Patron Card Holder .12.50 (No golf clubs to be kept in lockers.) Greens Fees To stay the same as stated in the 7-22-68 minutes, but simplified as follows; August 29, 1968 Page -2- 18 holes - weekends and holidays. J3.75 18 holes - weekdays . . . . . . . . . J3.25 9 holes - and twilite. . . . . . . . X2.00 HIGH SCHOOL TEAM RATES To establish a Weekday School Team Rate of X2.00 (9 hole rate) to recognized school golf coaches. MOVED by Petersen, seconded by Reed to adopt the above Locker Fees, Greens Fees and High School Team Rates. Carried Unanimously. BEER MOVED BY Petersen, seconded by Reed to accept the Brookview Sub - Committee's recommendation to request that an On -Sale 3.2 Beer License be granted to the Brookview Golf Club. Carried unanimously. BUDGET COMMITTEE REPORT Burt Brown, Chairman of the Budget Sub -Committee, read and explained the Budget Report that was distributed to all Commission members. This report recommended approval of the 1969 budget developed by the Park and Recreation Department. It was then MOVED by Reed, seconded by Neuman to approve the 1st draft of the Park and Recrea- tion Budget. Carried unanimously. The commission expressed their thanks to the Budget Committee (Chairman Burt Brown; members Tom Tart and John Sullivan for their outstanding job with the Budget Report. PARK TOUR DATE It was announced by John Brenna, that the Park Tour will take place on Saturday, September 21, 1968 at 9:00 a.m., and that an invitation will be extended to all Commission members in the Village to join the tour. GINGOLD AND PINK (Architects) A memo from Gingold-Pink Architects regarding facilities for the Shop Building, Swimming Pool Building and Brookview Club House was read by Mr Brenna. It was generally agreed by all Commission members that the architects should be apprised of the fact that storage space for golf cars will eventually be needed. RECREATION SUB -COMMITTEE The Recreation sub -Committee will meet on Tuesday, September 10, at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Safety Building. MOVED By Sullivan, seconded by Forster, that it be recommended to the Recreation Sub -Committee that a Teen Program be started as soon as possible. Carried unanimously. August 29, 1968 BROOKVIEW PARK page -3- Lloyd Roepke, the Park Foreman, reported on the progress to datgon the Brookview Park area. He informed the Commission that all the fill would be in within a week, that this would be graded and the sprinkling system would be put in this fall (weather permitting). It was then decided to invite the citizens living in the Brookview Park area to the next regular Park and Recreation Commission meet- ing on Thursday, September 26, 1968. It was announced that the date of the next Brookview Sub -Committee meeting is changed to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 10, 1968 in the Public Safety Building - to adjourn to a Special Meeting with the Village Council at 8:30 p.m. There being no further business, by Tart, carried unanimously that Chairman Stan Anderson it was MOVEU by the Zmeetine Fischer, seconded adjourned at 9:15. __W -------------- Vice-Chairr6an Dave Kahn 1 1 1
