Regular Meeting September 21, 1972
A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation
Commission was held on Thursday, September 21, 1972, at 7:30
p.m. at the Brookview Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata
Boulevard, Golden Valley, Minnesota.
Chairman Brown presided, and the following members were present:
Gergen, Hammer, Herje, Kelby. Members absent: Burmeister,
Durda, Petersen, Thrall. Also present: John L. Brenna,
Park and Recreation Director; Leo Hanson, Green Superintendent;
Corey Bakken, Golf Operations Manager; Lois Schaaf, Secretary.
MINUTES
MOVED by Kelby, seconded by Gergen to approve the minutes of the
l-egurar Meeting of August 31, 1972, as mailed. Carried.
GREENS SUPERINTENDENT - LEO HANSON
Mr. Hanson was introducted to all Commission members present,
and they thanked him for a job well done this past summer.
LETTERS TO CITIZENS COMMITTEE
Moved by Herje, seconded by Kelby, that letters of appreciation
be sent to all members of the Citizens Committee, and to the
Chairman, Mr. Tart.
TRAILS COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENT
Chairman Brown appointed Mrs. Herje to the Trails Committee as
the Park and Recreation Commission representative.
BOND ISSUE
Architects will be interviewed on November 9th, and if need be,
again on November 16th for 1/2 hour periods.
GOLF OPERATION
At this time, Chairman Brown asked Mr. Bakken, Golf Operations
Manager to bring forth a written recommendation at the November
meeting relative to ways of increasing resident play.

MINNEAPOLIS PARK BOARD RE: GLENVIEW TERRACE PARK
At this time, Mr. Brenna stated that he had sent a new layout
of Glenview Terrace Park to the Minneapolis Park Board for their
approval. Mr. Brenna stated that he expected their approval
before the October meeting.
OCTOBER MEETING DATE
The next meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation
Commission will be held at 7'30 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 1972,
at the Brookview Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata Boulevard,
Golden Valley, Minnesota.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, it was MOVED by Hammer, Seconded
by Gergen,to adjourn the meeting at 10:45 p.m.
