12-28-1972REGULAR MEETING GOLDEN VALLEY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION December 28, 1972 A regular meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation Commission was held on Thursday, December 28, 1972, at 7°30 p.m. at the Brookview Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata Blvd., Golden Valley, Minnesota. Chairman Brown presided, and the following members were present: Burmeister, Gergen, Hammer, Kelby, Petersen and Thrall. Absent: Herje. Also present, John L. Brenna, Park and Recreation. Director. MINUTES Moved by Petersen, seconded by Burmeister, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of November 30, 1972, as mailed. Carried. SUB COMMITTEE REPORT - GOLF POLICIES At this time, Mr. Hammer, chairman of the golf policy sub -committee, informed the commission that his committee had met earlier this evening, and that a final meeting would be needed before any recommendations would be brought forth. Mr. Hammer stated that his subcommittee will meet again on January 15th. ARCHITECTS AGREEMENT (PARK BUILDINGS) At this time, the architectural agreement between Armstrong,Torseth Skold and Rydeen, Inc., and the Village of Golden Valley was brought forth. After much discussion, it was MOVED by Petersen and seconded by Thrall that the said agreement be changed, where as the architectural fee be included with the total amount available for construction; also if cost estimates are higher, a system devised by the architects be employed to bring costs back to the available dollars. Carried. ELECTRICAL PROPOSALS At this time, Mr. Brenna brought forth two proposals for the light- ing of Village parks. After some discussion, it was MOVED by Hammer and seconded by Kelby, that we enter into an agreement with W. J. Sutherland and Associates, Inc. Carried. SKI TOURING (BROOKVIEW GOLF COURSE) At this time, Mr. Brenna stated that a great number of residents have shown an interest in utilizing the golf course for ski touring. Mr. Brenna stated that he would like to divide the golf course, running in a line from the park shop to the west, whereby restrict ing snowmobiling to the north of that line, and ski touring to the south. Mr. Brenna stated that the above arrangement would provide Golden Valley Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting December 28, 1972 ample room for snowmobiles. MOVED by Gergen and seconded divided to allow ski touring staff. Carried. TRAIL LOMMITTEE REPORT After little discussion, it was by Thrall that the golf course be and snowmobiling as outlined by At this time, Mr. Brenna stated that the Trails Committee did not meet in December. Mr. Brenna 'stated that a joint meeting between the Trails Committee and the Park and Recreation Commission should be held during the month of January to establish an organizational posture, and to study their trail proposals. Chairman Brown stated that he will call the trails chairman and set up a meeting date. ADJOURNMENT.
