1-18-1973SPECIAL MEETING GOLDEN VALLEY PARK & RECREATION COMMISSION January 18, 1973 A special meeting of the Golden Valley Park and Recreation Commission was held Thursday, January 18, 1973, at the Brookview Municipal Community Center, 8200 Wayzata Blvd., Golden Valley, Minnesota Chairman brown presided, and the following members were present: burmeister, Gergen, Herje, Kelby, Petersen. Absent: Hammer, Thrall, also present, Mr. James Rydeen and Mr. Ken Grabow, architects from the firm of Armstrong, Torseth, Skold and Rydeen. Mr. Richard Fieg, electricial consultant from the firm of W. J. Sutherland and Associates; John L. Brenna, Park and Recreation Uirector, and Lois Schaaf, Secretary. ARCHITECTS (PARK - RECREATION BUILDING DESIGNS) At this time, Mr. James Rydeen and Mr. Ken Grabow brought forth their designs for the Park -Recreation buildings. After much discussion, it was moved by Herje and seconded by Kelby that the architects further develop the plans for design that will be repeated in Wesley, Medley Hills, Lions, Hampshire, and Scheid Parks. Carried. Further discussion centered on the design of the Brookview Tennis building, and the Woodlawn Park Recreation building. After much comment, it was the consensus of members present that the architects review both buildings from the standpoint of roof design and imagination. CONSULTANT (RECREATIONAL LIGHTING) At this time, Mr. Richard Fieg from W. J. Sutherland and Associates, presented various lighting fixtures for walkway lighting. After considerable discussion, board members present made a tentative selection of walkway fixtures, but asked Mr. Fieg to obtain additional information and prices and photometrics. AUJOURNMENT There being no further business, it was moved by Herje and seconded by Burmeister to adjourn the meeting at 11:15 p.m. 1 ice Chairman Hammer
