7-25-1979 (special meeting)SPECIAL MEETING OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION COMMISSION July 25, 1979 A special meeting of the Golden Valley Open Space and Recreation Commission was held on Wednesday, July 25, 1979, at the Brookview Community Center. Members present: Asproth, Benson, Burmeister, Jaffe, and Johnson; members absent, Brown, Lyons, Petersen, and Szyman. Also present were Carl Vogt, Area Consult— ant, and John Brenna, Director of Parks and Recreation. LAUREL AVENUE PONDS Mr. Carl Vogt, the City's consultant on natural areas, brought forth a schematic drawing of the Laurel Avenue Pond, wherein is shown three zones or areas as follows: 1. a complete natural area on the south perimeter of the pond 2. Brome grass on the west, northwest, northeast, and east perimeter 3. Kentucky Bluegrass, ryegrass, and fescue along the trail corridor between the residents and the immediate north portion of the area A great deal of discussion ensued, after whish the Commission stated that they would like the residents who live along the trail corridor — that portion of the trail that runs between the homes — to be notified of the meeting on July 30th. At the July 30th meeting, Mr. Edelston, a resident of the Laurel Area will be making a presentation to the Commission relative to the area in question.
