Commission Reappointment Chair Kahlow informed the Commission that there would be one seat open on the Commission beginning March, 1986, due to the resignation of Rhoda Jaffe. Her resignation was met with regret, but she is to be commended for her many years of dedicated service to the Commission and the City of Golden Valley as a whole. Plowing of Trails A request came into the Park and Recreation Department from several residents regarding plowing of the trail along Plymouth Avenue. Rick Jacobson contacted as many Commission members by phone as possible, and it was consensus to plow this trail if the budget allowed. The trail was plowed and unanimous favorable comments were received from the residents. Lions Club Patio Dedication The Lions Club Patio at Brookview Community Center will be dedicated on April 24, 1986. Rick wanted to make sure the Commission was aware of this date and they will be getting invitations. Golf Course Policies and Information Rick Jacobson explained that the proposed golf course policies and information which had been formulated by the Brookview Improvements Committee, along with he and Kris Tovson. Since a quorum was not present the policies will be reviewed again at the February meeting and then forwarded to the Council. Cross Country Ski Trails Rick Jacobson informed the Commission that a request had come in from a resident wanting the City to groom the cross country ski trail on Brookview Golf Course. The resident was quite insistent on grooming so was invited to the Commission meeting to discuss it. On the phone, Rick explained to the resident that the City does not have the equipment necessary for grooming and that Theo Wirth trails were lighted and groomed and were located in Golden Valley. French Regional Park is also quite close so it did not seem necessary for the City to purchase grooming equipment. The resident said he would come to the meeting, but did not. 1 Skating Rink Lighting A petition was shown to the Commission that had been written by skaters from Lions Park requesting that the lights be left on until 10:00 PM. After discus- sion concerning impact on neighbors, it was the consensus of the Commission to leave the lighting as is; being turned off at 9:00 PM. Rick brought up a concern for the lack of attendance at Commission meetings. Commissioners present also registered concern and will discuss this at a future meeting. The next meeting for the Open Space and Recreation Commission is scheduled for February 24, 1986 at Brookview Community Center. Chair Kahlow ;Iice Char ohnson 1 1
