Members present: Jim Johnson, George Murad, Chuck Burmeister, Rick Groger,
Rich Krahulec. Also present were Tom Klatt, Park and Street Superinten-
dent, Rick Jacobson, and Sharyl Thompson.
Minutes
A motion was made by Rick Groger and seconded by Chuck Burmeister to
approve the minutes of the June meeting.
The Commission had a light supper on the patio at Brookview Community
Center and then went on a tour of the parks.
Lakeview
Rick Jacobson pointed out the park improvements that have been recently
made at Lakeview. These improvements included removing about 40 trees,
installing new playground equipment, and grading to improve water drainage.
Two letters have been received the Park and Recreation Department from
residents around the park, complimenting the City on the improvements.
Wesley
Tom Klatt explained to the Commission

Hampshire

age at Hampshire Park. Plans are being made to fi 11 in some of the low
areas to reduce the size of the water areas.
Mary Hills
The Commission members walked the trail through Mary Hills, observing the
new handicapped accessible exercise course that was recently installed.
Papoose
It was explained that the baseball field will be redesigned and new ben-
ches will be added by the playground area.
Lions
The Commission looked at the park shelter building and observed the new
layout of the softball fields that was completed last fall.

Centennial CJnncert
Chair Johnson commented that the Park staff did an excellent job of prepar-
ing Brookview for the Minnesota Orchestra concert in July. It was agreed
that a note of appreciation would be sent to the Centennial Committee
Chairperson, Don Palmer, for a job well done.
Brookview Improvements Cbmni t tee
George Murad had no official report, but said the course was holding up
well.
Pool Committee
Chuck Burmeister reported that soil borings had been taken and it does not
appear that any piling is needed, depending upon the actual height of the
building. The biggest concern of the Cbmnittee and Commission is parking,
and the Committee requested that the architect stay with the original plan
of 200 spaces.
