The membership of tho program has increased over the last year, and participation levels ick the activities are high. George Murad made a motion that the City Council be given a statement and the minutes show that the Commission feels Barbara does a great job in taking care of the seniors, and the reason the program is so successful is because of her. She brings prestige to Golden Valley because of her hard work and leadership. IA DRIU, AVENUE Chuck Burmeister gave a short history of the Laurel Avenue area, the recom- mendations made by the Commission in the past and what has been done. Rick Jacobson then updated the Commission on the current status. The storm sewer is being finished, the link to Jersey Avenue is done (South Cortlawn area), and Bob Close has been hir d to design plantings to buffer the homes from Hampshire to Colorado Avenues. A neighborhood meeting will be held to review the preliminary plans witD the residents from that area. Chuck Burmeister gave a report f the last Pool Committee meeting. The architect brought a preliminary plan with an estimated cost of $6.5 mil- lion. The Committee directed Ed Kodet to come back with a plan using less square footage and an approximate figure of $4 million. George Murad reported that the only complaint is with the deterioration of some greens. The course is fine and fun, one of the best around, however the Committee would like to see the maintenance level raised. The Men's Club has donated 150' markers for the course. 1 Chuck Burmeister expressed concern that the same issues keep coming up through the Committee. Rick Jacobson responded that Andy, in trying to save the City money, tends to take on more major projects than his time will allow and then perhaps sma 1 1 concerns sometimes fall through the cracks. Rick will review with Andy which projects should be done in house and which should be contracted out.
