7-27-19981 1 OPEN SPACE & RECREATION COMMISSION July 27, 1998 Members present: Linda Loomis, Liz Elder, Chuck Cahill, Jim Johnson, Rich Krahulec, Jim Sicora, Roger McConico and Tom Zins. Also present were Rick Jacobson, Sharyl Thompson, and Tom Klatt. MINUTES — JUNE 22, 1998 A motion was made by Tom Zins and seconded by Jim Johnson to approve the minutes of June 22, 1998. Motion carried. PARK TOUR The Commission went to the following areas on the annual park tour: • Skate Park — response has been good with the aggressive skate park located near city hall by the water tower. • Wesley Park • Medley Park • Pennsylvania Woods • Honeywell Little League field — Honeywell has given notice to the Little League organization that they intend to sell the land on which the ballfields are presented located. Talks are continuing between staff, Little League officials and Honeywell personnel regarding this matter. • Hampshire Park- • Seeman Park • St. Croix Park • Scheid Park — one of the ballfields is being converted into a Little League field • Briar -wood • Gearty Park • Stockman Park • Rice Lake Trail • Hidden Lakes • Mary Hills • Schaper Park • State Arts School soccer field — seeding of the turf should take place within the next two weeks. • Lions Park • + Western Avenue Marsh • Brookview Park At the conclusion of the tour, the Commission expressed their appreciation to the Park Maintenance staff for the excellent condition of the parks.
