Council/Manager Dynamics (8:30 - 10 am)
• (10-15 minutes) Discussion of individual member's vision/mission of City Council,
approach/philosophy of city government
• (10-15 minutes) Understanding Mayor/Council vs. City Manager roles
• (15 minutes) Council cohesion (e.g.: meeting decorum, communicating personal initiatives,
Code of Conduct - formal or informal)
• (10-15 minutes) Determine outreach options (neighborhood meetings, Farmer's Market, etc.)
• (5 minutes) Council liaison roles (continue vs. not continue)
• (5-10 minutes) Communications (State of the City, SunPost monthly/Patch blogging)
• (5 minutes) Calendar of Council events/activities of the year (i.e.: commission interviews,
annual City Manager review, State of the City address; budget, GV Days, MN Night to Unite,
neighborhood meetings, etc.)
Break (10 am)
Goat Setting for 2014 (10 am - 12 pm)
• Pre-determined priorities (Bottineau, Community Center, Bassett Creek Regional Trail,
Douglas Drive/Highway 55, 2015 City Manager search, County 911 Dispatch, Envision
Commission sunset/extension)
• Council/Manager issue review requests
• Commission review/action
• Council action items
Lunch/Continuation of Goal SetEing - if necessary (12 pm)
