GOLDEN VALLEY CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
Minutes of June 4, 1968 Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 8:45 pm at the home of Com. Glass.
Chairman Erickson, Com. Hazelrigg, Com. Glass were in attendance.
Chief Frandsen also was in attendance.
1 The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as read.
2 It was agreed that the examination for patrolman, sergeant, and
lieutenant would be undertaken on the same date.
3 The secretary will write to Roger Ulstad indicating our plans for
examination for patrolman, sergeant, and lieutenant. A recom-
mendation to add supervisory people will be included unless the
Council has already approved.
4 The secretary is to write to the State Civil Service office to
tentatively reserve examination booklets for the three tests.
5 Com. Hazelrigg will develop the application form to be used for
the sergeant and lieutenant examinations.
6 Com. Hazelrigg moved and Com. Glass seconded that the Rules and
Regulations, Civil Service Commission, Golden Valley, Minnesota
be amended so that Section 22 Specifications for position of
Police Captain, Minimum application requirements reads "Education
equivalent to that of high school graduation; age 30 years and
6 years experience in police work including 3 years in a position
ranking above that of a patrolman; citizenship, gree, and
character requirements as set forth herein for police patrolman."
and
Section 23 - Specifications for position of Police Lieutenant,
Minimum application requirements reads "Education equivalent to
that of high school graduation; age 25 and 5 years experience in
police work including 2 years in a position ranking above that
of a patrolman; citizenship, , and character requirements
as set forth herein for police patrolman."
Motion was unanimously approved.

7 A modified application form for patrolman was developed and
will be used for the scheduled examination.
8 Chairman Erickson will check with Roger Ulstad on what procedure
he follows on counseling with employees who are resigning to
determine reason for leaving.
9 Meeting adjourned 10:30 pm.
