03/08/72 CSC MinutesPOLICE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION VILLAGE OF GOLDEN VALLEY Minutes Meeting of March 89 1972 Members present John Mitchell Ed Glass and Pierce Meyer. Guests present: David DeCoursin and David Gorski. Chairman Glass called the meeting to order at 8:15 p.m. The minutes of the February 23 meeting were read. The minutes were changed, under motion 3/1/72, to read: (2) at least four year's police experience, two years of which are at a rank above patrolman (�gj-these requirements subject to waiver by the Commission), and.... Note: /// indicates word deleted. indicates word, letter or grammatical mark added. The minutes were approved as corrected. The "statement of responsibilities" was reviewed. After changes, it will be presented at the next meeting. The procedure to fill the position of Lieutenant was discussed. The various dates were reviewed; the advertisements were discussed; and the Commission reviewed the written and oral exam plans. The position will be opened around March 20, 1972, and we hope to have a recommendation by mid-July. The Director of Public Safety reported an item from the Village Council meet- ing of February 23. The minutes of the Council read: "Moved by Paulson, seconded by Stockman, carried, to request a representative from the Human Rights Commission to present a report within 60 days on the raising of educational requirements for policemen." In view of the renewed interest in this item, the Police Civil Service Commis- sion decided to postpone action on further changes in educational requirements. The Commission requested the Public Safety Director to keep informed of this matter. The Commission received a reply to its request of the Village Attorney. The letter of March 8, 1972, from Robert Skare explains the legal status of eligibility rosters in view of possible changes in educational requirements. The meeting was adjourned.
