Chairman Meyer called the meeting to order at 7 :12 P.N.

Reviewed the letter from Menain Petersan, Assistant Attorney
General os the State of Minnesotae The issue presented waso

single exa�-^.inatio:i as both. an init�ial and promotional
examination?". The Rules and Regulat,ions of the Civil Service
Commiss�cn of Gol_den Val__ley d�e� nat addr.ess this questioi�.
However, this was the case in 1972 when an examination was '
conducted to es�ablish a .lieutenants roster. The exa.minat�on
was open to orficers on. the Golden 5,'alley force and zo persons
outsic7e the �orce that met the miniirn�m qualifications. A
5 point credit ���as ��iven to those veterans requesting the

The canclusion oL the discussian was to request the attorney
general to continue research i.n order to offer an official
opinian ta the inqu;_ry on lateral entry.
