Motion by Reiss seconded by Frandsen that 4woo an additional two tires be pureh ased for the Police Car. An Ordinance Regulating the Speed of Motor Vehicles on the Streets, Highways, Roadways and Alleys F'«' in the Village of Golden Valley"!° v Whereas Federal and State Authorities, because of the war emergency, have established and recommended lower speed limits than are permissible in peace time; The Village Council of t;ze Village of Golden Valley do ordain and establish as follows: Section 1. No pe°son shall drive a motor vehicle in or upon any highway, street, roadway, or alley within the limits of the Village of Golden Valley at a rate of speed exceeding thirty-five (35) miles per hour. Section 2. Nothing in this ordinance shall be construed to permit the driving or operation of a motor vehicle in or upon any highway, street, roadway, or alley within the limits of the Village of Golden Valley at a rate of speed greater than that permitted by any existing statute or ordinance where the rate of speed so permitted is less than thirt)a five (35) miles per hour. Section 3. Nothing in this ordinance shall be sonstrued to permit the driv- ing of operation of a motor venicle in or upon any highway, street, roadway, or alley within the limits of the Village of Golden Valley at a rate of speed greater than cxaxmikkaix:x'xRxXxxxistixg is reasonable and proper at the time and under the circiimA anc,�s of such driving or operation. The short title of this ordinance shall be "War Speed Ordinance" and it shall be sufficient in any charge or complaint brought hereunder to rilfer to this ordinance by its short title. of this ordinance Section 5. Any violation/shall be a misdemeanor and any person guilty of such violation shall, upon convicts m thereof, be sentenced to a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) or to imprisonment at for a term not exceed ing ninety (90) days.
