Minutes of the regular Council meeting hold Oct 2,1945 were read.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Moe that the minutes stand approved
as read.

M*. Strong, attorney, representing Mr Ellstrom recommended that the
throe districts (73 acres) be included in the proposed drainage
system*
The President asked if anyone objected no one abjected.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Frandsen to a opt the following
resolution:
WHEREAS, it appe�rs necessary and in the public inteest that a
( storm sewer be constructed in the Village of Golden Valley, Hennepin County,
Minnesota on Poplar :rive 416 lineal feet running East from Meadow Lane, to
be constructed of a4" reinforced concrete pipe and 894 lineal feet of 24"
reinforced concrete pipe and 490 lineal feet of 18" reinforced concrete pipe
and 1360 lineal feet of 1011 reinforced concrete pipe and 650 lineal feet of
8t1 reinforced concrete pipe on Meadaw Lane South of Poplar Drive and 250 lineal
feet of 18" reinforced concrete pipe in Glenwood Avenue (fest from Meadow sane
and 55 lineal feet of 811 reinforced concrete pPe as a connection from inlets to
sewer, as shown by the map or plat on file witfi the Villag) Clerk prepared
by Hitchcock and Estabrook, Inc., Engineers and dated October 151 1945,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Golden Valley
that a storm sewer be constructed on Poplar Drive 416 lineal feet running East
from Meadow Lane, to be constructed of a 24" reinforced concrete pipe and 834
lineal feet of 24" reinforced concrete pipe and 490 lineal feet of 18" r6inforced
concrete pipe and 1360 lineal feet of 10" reinforced concrete pipe and 650 lineal
feet of 8" reinforced concrete pipe on meadow Lane South of Poplar Drive and 250
lineal feet of 18" reinforced concrete pipe in Glenwood Avenue nest from Meadow
Lane and 55 lineal feet of 811 reinforced concrete pipe as a connection from
inlets to sewer, to be known and designated as "Sewer District No. 1".

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Hitchcock and Estabrook, Inc., be des-
ignated as engineers and whereas said engineers have drawn plans and specifi—
cations and prepared and tabulated an estimated cost of the construction of
such sewer and reported the same to the Village Council,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Village Council of the Village of Golden
Valley that said plans be hereby accepted and be filed with the Clerk, where
they shall remain on file open to inspection of all persons until after a
contract for the work shall be let.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED -that the Clerk be directed to advertise for
bids for proposals for doing the work described in s id
• dans and specifications
in the Robbi.nsdae Post and in a newspaper or trade paper published in a city
of the first class in the state, said publication to be at ast once in
each week for three succ issive weeks, said bids to be opened November 8, 1945
and no bid shall be considered unless the same shall be accompanied by a cash
deposit or duly certified check or a bidder's bond with corporate sureties o r
personal sureties approved by the Council for at least fifteen per cent of the
amount bid.

A letter from the Planning commission recommending that the Council
take steps to acquire 62 acres for a future civic center and park
purposes, was read and filed.
Motion by Use seconded by Reiss to grant the Golden Valley Golf
Club a club on sale liquor license.

The president opened the hearing on water connections with Mplg.
to one appeared against.
Mr Ryan recommended that some member of the Council contact the
Mple authorities for Dermiasioa to connect to their water mains.

The.prosident appointed Mr Smith and Mr Arthur Nolson to contact
t -he City of Mple authorities.
Motion by Moe seconded by Frandsen that the hearing be adjourned
until the next regular Council meetin.

A tresurers report was read and filed.
The Village attorney read the report on the Stanger vs Hanson case.
Notion by Frandsen seconded Mee that the Village attorney be author-
ized to purchase for a fire station at $1500.00 the following
described tract of -land Commencing at a point in the East line
of Government ,oar ),sectioa 33,township 118, range 21 at the
intersection of said line with the south line of the now existing
Thotland Read,thenco North 225 feet, thence west 330 feet, thence
South 225 feet, thence East to the point of beginning, subject to
the now existing public easement on the East 33 feet of said tract
,all in the Village of Golden Valley, County.of Hennepin Stat of
Minnesota, also that an option be taken on the balance of 62 acres
tract known as the Mengelkock property. The $1500.00 to be deducted
later from the total cost of the entire land.

Motion by Moe seconded by Reiss that the Minn. District of Evang-
elical Lutheran Synod of Missoure Ohio) and others states be prem-
itted to use the Village Hall at $3.00 per service during the winter
months, and $1.00 per service starting in May. Janitor work to be
furnished be them.

Capt. McGinnis reported that three trucks and a trailer were narked
on the La Zerty property.
Motion by Moe seconded by Frandsen that the Council advertise for
a new truck Bids -to be opened Nov. 6th 1945.
