02-05-46 Council Minutes1 r 1 Febr. 5,1946 The meeting was called to order by the President Harold IN Swenson Members present Swenson Reiss Moe and Milson kember absent Frandsen. Minutes of the Council meeting held Jan. 15,1946 were read. The President announced that Mr. Makie agreed to clean un his front yard. Capt. McG nnis reported that dumping off Winnekka Ave was a bad mess, and that the road boss was filling over the mess. Motion by Moe seconded by neiss as read.- Swenson Reiss Moe Wilson (Y"S) that the minutes stand approved A treasures report was read and placed on file. Mr. Moe recommended that Folke Shubert be appointed assessor to fill the unexpired term of John Gaffney. Motion by Moe seconded by Reiss that Folke Shubert be -appointed assessor of the Village of Golden Valley . Term to expire i`ec. 31,1946, and that he be impowered to appoint one deputy assessor. Swenson Reiss Moe Wilson (YES) The President suggested that the tax assessor be supported with a tax committee to help him. The President stated that he would announce a tax committee at the Febr. 191th Council me:;ting. Fire Chief Shuttleworth reported that during Jan. there were 3 fire meetings and one fire call. A Bldg Inspectors report was read and placed on file. A letter from the Civil Service Commission was read and filed. Motion by Reiss seconded by Moe that a first reading be given to the following entitled ordinances It An Ordinance relating to speed zone and speed restrictions upon streets and roadways in the Village of ,Golden Valley" Roll call Swenson neiss 'woe Wilson (YES) Mr. Nelson, Village Attorney, gave the first reading of the atlove ordinance. A letter from Capt. McGinnis requesting the Council for two additional policeman and a new salary scale was read. Motion by neiss seconded by Moe that the Letter be referred to the Civil service Commission.
