September 18, 1951
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular
meeting of the Village Council of the Village of Golden
Valley, Minnesota, was held at the Village Hall in said
Village on September 18, 1951, at 7:30 P.M.
The following.members were present: Pinch, Putnam,
Reiss, Stark, Stasel and the following were absent: None.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Pinch carried to approve
the minutes of the September 4 meeting as read.
Planning Commission letter of September 18 was read
approving request of L. M. Smith, 3241 Quail Avenue, to
waive side yard requirements in order that he may build an
attached garage up to seven feet from the north lot line,
and giving final approval to the plat presented by Viggo Olsen,
with several stipulations. Letter also suggested the possi-
bilit7 of establishing an arrangement among the suburban
planning commi s si ons and Minneapolis to study the . more im-
portant over-all problems effecting all communities. Mr.
Smith was not present, and his request was therefore post-
poned to the next meeting. Action on the Viggo Olsen plat
was postponed until the drainage easement was provided
across Lot 5 and a profile of the street obtained. The
Council indicated that the idea of a Suburban Planning Com-
mission
ommission group should be encouraged.
Mr. M. A. Hetland suggested the possibility of having
flashing signals installed near Meadowbrook School because
of the speed of the traffic. Speeding east of the Belt
Line on Glenwood was also brought up. Motion by Reiss
seconded by Pinch carried instructing police to check the
speeding on Glenwood Avenue from Highway 100 to the city
limits, with a report to be made at the next meeting regard-
ing the speed of traffic both during the rush hours in the
morning and in the evening.
Letter was read dated September 18 from Enaco, Inc.,
requesting the vacation of -Cross Lane in Noble Grove Addition.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Pinch carried to set a hearing
for October 2 to consider the petition presented and to
publish a legal notice in the Village legal paper.
Jerry Cramer and Clarence Sheedy, representing Golden
Valley businessmen, requested that more police protection
be provided during nighttime hours. Council indicated that
the matter would be discussed at the budget meeting.
Motion by Riess seconded by Pinch carried to approve
the request of the Northern States Power Company to erect
poles on Poplar Drive and on Archibald, per plans on file.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By said Tillage Council,
acting pursuant to Minnesota Statutes for 1945, Section
282.01, that the said classification by said Board of County
Commissioners of each parcel of land described in said list
as non -conservation land be and thesame is hereby approved
and that the sale of each such parcel of land be and the
same is hereby approved, excepting Parcel No. 34010-A -
1926/29 Lots 240 to 244 inclusive and Parcel No. 1333-A -
1926 Lots 245 to 249 inclusive, Glenwood Addition.
The question was on the adoption of the resolution
and the roll being called there were5 YEAS and 0 NAYS, as
follows: Pinch, Putnam, Reiss, Stark, Stasel - YEA.

Trustee Reiss offered the following resolutions and
moved its adoption:
WHEREAS, The Village Council of the Village of Golden
Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota, has received from the
County Auditor of Hennepin County, Minnesota, a list of
lands in said village which became the property of the State
of Minnesota under the provisions of law declaring the
forfeiture of lands to the State for non-payment of taxes,
which said list has been designated as List tt293-Ctt, February
23s 1949; and
WHEREAS, each parcel of land described in said list has
heretofore been classified by the Board of County Commissioners
of Hennepin County, Minnesota as non -conservation land and the
sale thereof has heretofore been authorized by said Board of
County Commissioners;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By said Village Councils
acting pursuant to Minnesota Statutes for 19459 Section 282.010
that the said classification by said Board of County Comis-
sioners of each parcel of land described in said list_as non
conservation land be and the same is -hereby approved and that
the sale of each such parcel of land be and the same is hereby
approved, excepting Parcel No. 8373-A - 1929, Lots 37 to 48
inclusive and Parcel No. 8385-A - 1929-41, Lots 49 to 54 in-
clusive, Belmont Addition.
The question was on the adoption of the resolution and
