Council meeting continued from July 1 was called to
order at 7:30 o'clock P.M. at the Village Hall with the
following members present: Pinch, Putnam, Reiss, Stark,
Stasel. Absent: none.
Discussion centered on the appointment of a consulting
engineering firm to perform such services as the Council
might direct. Motion by Reiss seconded by Putnam carried
to appoint the G. M. Orr Engineering Co. as sanitary
engineering consultants to the Village of Golden Valley,
with the stipulation that there would be no present or
future obligation on the part of the Village in the absence
of a separate written agreement for each and every phase
of work that might be undertaken, and further that there
would be no continuing obligation on the part of the Vil-
lage to employ G. M. Orr Engineering Company for any
particular phase or phases of the work.
Letter dated June 30 from the City of Minneapolis
Engineering Department was read requesting authorization
for oiling of Xerxes Avenue. Motion by Pinch seconded by
Stark carried to grant authorization to the City of Minne-
apolis to scarify, blade and oil Xerxes Avenue N. for the
Golden Valley portion of Xerxes Avenue from Plymouth
Avenue to McNair Avenue, except park property frontage,
and that the cost of doing such work be on a 50-50 basis,
which cost shall be billed at the completion of the work.
Motion by Stark seconded by Reiss carried to transfer
$5575.27 from the P.I.R. Fund to Fund No. 16. Motion by
Stark seconded by Reiss carried to approve the payment to
Minder Engineering Company for engineering services on
Fund No. 16 in the amount of $5575.27•
Motion by Reiss seconded by Pinch carried to grant
approval to the Second Addition to Glendale, subject to
receipt of quit claim deed for the proposed Lot A and to
indication of utility easements.
Motion by Pinch seconded by Reiss carried that a 300 ft.
setback from the easterly edge of the main traveled right-
of-way of the Belt Line (Trunk Highway #100) be required
for any commercial structures that might be -erected on the
northeast corner of Olson Highway and the Belt Line.
The village attorney explained the attorney general's
opinions relating to the request made by Officer Lindrud-
for payment of vacation time earned while in the armed
service. The attorney indicated that vacation time was
earned by Mr. Lindrud while in the military service, but
that such earned vacation time cannot be paid for in lieu
of actually taking the vacations.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Stark carried authorizing
the building inspector to issue a building permit to the
Suburban Lumber Company per plans on file, subject to a
final check of the actual site by Pinch and Terzich.
Motion by Reiss seconded by Putnam carried to renew
the following pinball machine licenses per applications on
file:

Motion by Reiss seconded by Stark carried instructing
the Chief of Police to make a check of all coin operated
amusement devices in all business establishments in the
village and to submit a written report on such check for
the July 15 meeting.

presented showing the following totals:
