02-12-76 Special MeetingSPECIAL MEETING of the CITY COUNCIL February 12, 1976 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the Council of the City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held at 7800 Golden Valley Road in said City on February 12, 1976 at 8:30 p.m. The following members were present: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson, Swartz and Thorsen. Also present was City Clerk Mary H. Marske. Concluding three nights of informal meetings for the purpose of interviewing candidates for boards and commissions the council convened to officially make appointments. Planning Commission: MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Swartz and carried to re -appoint Donald Hugh- es and Peggy Specktor for three year terms expiring March 1, 1979. MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Thorsen and carried to appoint Robert Wagman to a three year term expiring March 1, 1979. MOVED by Thorsen, seconded by Swartz and carried to appoint Merwyn Mindess to a two year term expiring March 1, 1978. Park & Recreation Commission: MOVED by Swartz, seconded by Thorsen and carried to re -appoint members G. Burton Brown, Sam Courey and Mary King to three year terms expiring March 1, 1979. Board of_ Zon�Appeals : MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Swartz and carried to re -appoint members Mahlon Swedberg, LeRoy Anderson, Mike Sell and Walter Kost to one year terms expiring March 1, 1977. Safety Council: MOVED by Swartz, seconded by Anderson and carried to appoint Roland Berg- quist and Hyman Shinder to three years terms expiring March 1, 1979. MOVED by Swartz, seconded by Thorsen and carried to confirm the appointment of Richard Bloom to a three year term commencing March 1, 1975 and expiring on March 1, 1978. MOVED by Johnson, seconded by Thorsen and carried to recommend appointment of Dody Brose and Ken Garfield to three year terms expiring March 1, 1979. Environmental Commission: MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Thorsen and carried to re -appoint Sandy Knudson to a two year term expiring March 1, 1978. Police/Communes Relations Commission: Moved by Swartz, seconded by Anderson and carried to re -appoint Gregg Corwin, Douglas Drolsum, Sue Garvis, Leland Gillogly, Gordon Ortler, Loren Laskow and Douglas McFarland to one year terms expiring March 1, 1977. MOVED by Johnson, seconded by Thorson and carried to appoint C. James Kelly to a one year term expiring March 1, 1977. MOVED by Swartz, seconded by Anderson and carried to appoint Jaye Krantz to a one year term expiring March 1, 1977. MOVED by Swartz, seconded by Thorsen and carried to appoint Tina Kelly to a one year term expiring March 1, 1977. MOVED by Thorsen, seconded by Swartz and carried that the Council express its intent to establish a YouthCommittee as a sub -committee to the Human Rights Commission. MOVED by Swartz, seconded by Thorsen and carried that prior to appointments to the Youth Committee the council will establish a uniform structure and procedure for appointments to council sub -committees. Housing ,-& Community Development Commission: MOVED by Thorsen, seconded by Anderson and carried to appoint Mel Burstein to a one year term expiring March 1, 1977. MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Swartz and carried to re -appoint Glen Eiden to a three year term expiring March 1, 1979. Special Meeting of the City Council, February 12, 1976 Before adjourning the Council directed the City Clerk to draft letters informing each appointee of the Council's action and also letters to the chairmen informing them of appointment of new members with an en- closure listing the functions of the boards and commis ' n , the time committment and the responsibilities of the members.
