09-27-76 Special MeetingSPECIAL MEETING of the CITY COUNCIL September 27, 1976 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special, meeting of the City Council of the City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held at 7800 Golden Valley Road in said City on September 27, 1976 at 7:30 p.m. Those present were: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson, Swartz and Thorsen. Also present were Director of Administrative Services, John F. Murphy and City Clerk Mary H. Marske, 1977 Budget The City Clerk presented an affidavit showing publication in the official newspaper of the Notice of Public Hearing on the proposed 1977 Budget. Said affidavit was then examined, approved and ordered filed in the office of the City,Clerk. The Mayor then opened the public hearing. Mrs. Janet Duebner, chairperson of the Park & Recreation Commission was present to highlight the priorities of the Park & Recreation Budget. Mr. Ron Haskvitz representing the Human Rights Commission requested con- tinuation of full funding for the Detached Worker Program. Also speaking in behalf of the program were: Frankie Francel, Doug Freeman, Ron Pavlock and Robert Zitur. Mr. John Rudolph and Ron Pavlock spoke to the Firefighting Budget on behalf of the Golden Valley Volunteer Fire Department for additional funds for dress uniforms and other supplies. Mr. Larry Smith raised a question concerning the future funding of the Valley Square Task Force in the coming years budget. The Mayor then closed the public hearing. Westwood Park Office Complex (from 9/20/76 Jon Westlake appeared before the Council to present the findings of the Planning Commission in regard to the request of the proponent for a waiver of the Flood Plain Ordinance to allow filling for the construction of the third building in the office complex. MOVED by Anderson, seconded by Johnson and carried to approve the waiver of the Flood Plain Ordinance to allow filling as recommended by the Plan - Commission.
