SPECIAL MEETING
of the
CITY COUNCIL
March 16, 1977
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City
Council of the City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held
at 7800 Golden Valley Road in said City on March 16, 1977 at 7:30 p.m.
The following members were present: Anderson, Hoover, Johnson,Thorsen.
Also present were Assistant City Manager Jeff Sweet and City Engineer
Lowell E. Odland.
The Assistant City Manager presented an affidavit of publication in the
official paper of the notice of Public Hearing on said informational
meeting regarding the possible upgrading of Medicine Lake Road. Said
affidavit was then examined, approved and ordered filed in the office of
the City Clerk.
Mayor Hoover introduced the members present and gave a brief background of
the problems presented by Medicine Lake Road to the surrounding residents,
Mr. Peter Enck representing the Medicine Lake Road Options Committee briefly
presented the comments of the committee on possible upgrading of Medicine
Lake Road.
Mr. James Wold, representing the Hennepin County Highway Department present-
ed several possible alternatives as proposed by the County Highway Department.
The Mayor then opened the public hearing on the possible upgrading of Medi-
cine Lake Road and persons present to do so were afforded the opportunity
to express their views thereon.
The following persons expressed opposition to any upgrading of Medicine Lake
Road at this time:

In addition to those in attendance stating opposition, four petitions
expressing opposition to any upgrading of Medicine Lake Road were pre-
sented to the Council.
Mr. Bob Zitur, 2155 Aquila Avenue North expressed his concerns regard-
ing Medicine Lake Road.
The Mayor then closed the public hearing.
The Council determined to place discussion of this matter on the agenda
of one of their upcoming workshop meetings.
The Council reviewed a letter drafted by the Mayor on directions to the
Planning Commission concerning the new zoning code. The Council concur-
red with the proposed letter.and requested that it be sent.
The Council adjourned at 11:15 p.m.
