Special Meeting
of the
City Council
January 13, 1981
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a special meeting of the City Council of the
City of Golden Valley, Hennepin County, Minnesota was held at 7800 Golden Valley Road
in said City on January 13, 1981 at 4:30 P.M.
The following members were present: Anderson, Mitchell, Stockman and Thorsen. Also
present was City Manager, Jeff Sweet.
Councilmember Johnson was absent.
Approval of Union.Contracts
The City Manager reviewed the agreements negotiated withLocal #49 International Union
of Operating Engineers, Local #27 of Law Enforcement Labor Services, and Local #50 Law
Enforcement Labor Services.
MOVED by Stockman, seconded by Mitchell and.carried to authorize the Mayor and Manager
to sign the agreement with Local #49.
MOVED by Mitchell, seconded by Stockman and carried to authorize.the Mayor and Manager
to sign the agreement with Local #27.
MOVED by Anderson., seconded by Stockman and carried to authorize the Mayor and Manager
to sign the agreement with Local #50.
Update
Mayor Thorsen gave an update on the community center, trip to Edmonton and Portland
to view light rail transit systems and the Council discussed attendance at the
National League of.Cities Washington D.C. conference in February. No action taken.
1981 Project Activity Schedule
The Council reviewed the 1981 project activity schedule.

MOVED by Stockman, seconded by Mitchell and carried to authorize the Planning Commission
subcommittee to request the Planning Commission to hold the one required public hearing
on the comprehensive plan prior to March 1, 1981.
MOVED by Stockman, seconded by Mitchell and carried to authorize the Planning Commission
subcommittee to develop and implement a plan for notification of the community regarding
the comprehensive plan public hearing.
At 6:30 the Mayor called for a 45 -minute recess to permit the Council to meet as the
Housing and Redevelopment Authority. The meeting was reconvened at 7:15 P.M. The
Council continued its discussion of the 1981 project activity schedule. Councilmember
Johnson arrived at 7:30. The Council completed its discussion of the 1981 project
activity schedule. No additional action was taken.

Comprehensive Storm Sewer Policy
MOVED by Stockman, seconded by Mitchell and carried to defer action on this item to
the Council meeting of January 20, 1981.
